Big Sur Lingcod Go ‘On The Chew’
The 28 anglers fishing aboard the Kahuna had a super day of bottomfishing on Sunday, September 29 when they landed 56 lingcod, 103 rockfish, 84 copper rockfish and 39 vermilion rockfish.
“The lingcod were on the chew,” said Carol Jones of Kahuna Sportfishing. “We had boat limits of lingcod on the first two stops. Limits of rockfish followed for all anglers aboard.”
On the previous day, the 18 anglers bagged limits of quality rockfish at Point Sur.
Chris Arcoleo of Chris’ Fishing Trips in Monterey confirmed the top-notch lingcod and rockfish action. On September 29, the Checkmate returned with 13 limits of rockfish and 21 lingcod for 18 fishermen and the Caroline came back with 8 limits and 8 lings. Both boats fished near Cypress Point.
On Saturday, the Check Mate and Star of Monterey went south to Point Sur. for a combined total of 3/4 limits of rockfish and 64 lingcod for 50 fishermen. The Caroline reported 22 limits of rockfish and 2 lingcod on a trip to the local reefs.
Randy’s Fishing Trips reported “great rockfishing, with limits of rockfish and quite a few lingcod being caught.”
“Rockcod fishing was awesome on the latest trip aboard the Velocity,” said Ken Stagnaro of Stagnaro’s Fishing Trips in Santa Cruz. “We had 12 lingcod and limits of rockfish for 12 guys.”Back To Reports
