Bank fishermen and trollers were rewarded with good fishing after these last few storms and fishing should only continue into the spring months.
Jeremy Hart of Loomis recently fished Berryessa targeting catfish and was rewarded with many fish and one monster. "The catfish action has been amazing, with our last trip bringing in over 50 fish in a single day between two fishermen!" exclaimed Hart.
"Catfish started gathering in the north end of the lake a few weeks and ago and fishing for them continued this past week for them. The best way to target these fish have been jigging as well as soaking any kind of bait."
Reports continue with the 30+ fish days and also a report came in about a fisherman rolling shad for kings who had a double hookup which turned out to be two monster cats. Each fish came in at a respected 22 and 24 pounds!
Expect crappie and spotted, largemouth and smallmouth bass to improve as the water temperature warms up and fish move into the pre-spawn mode. Recent reports stated bass are hitting the best now on small plastics on drop shot rigs in 20-50 feet of water.
The water level has remained at 413.44 feet or 25.16 feet below the Glory Hole Spillway. The lake level should rise with recent rainfall.
