Top Water Bite On Calero In The Mornings
Silicon Valley anglers continue to do well on bass, while opportunities exist for both crappie and catfish.
Plastics and reaction baits were the top suggestions for bass, according to Paul Jolly at Coyote Bait and Tackle this week, with many of the fish still holding onto summertime patterns.
"At Calero you can get into a topwater bite on plugs and frogs, but during the day it’s all plastics for the most part,” said Jolly. "Anderson is doing really well, I'd suggest starting either left or right of the boat launch and toss a crankbait right off the bat. Coyote has been a little slow, but there's still some nice sized fish out there on jigs and Texas rigs."
Anglers in search of crappie are being sent to Uvas, where Jolly had some success. "I worked the dam the other day for a couple fish. Crappie jigs were working pretty good," he related.
"The catfish bite has slowed down at Chesbro, but they're still there," Jolly noted. "Try night crawlers, mackerel and chicken livers.”Back To Reports
