Bass Busters Newsletter
July 2000

The Bass Busters held its seventh tournament and the first of two night tournaments at Lake Don Pedro. Starting at 6:00 PM and weighing our catch on Sunday morning at 8:00 AM typically makes for a long night and an even longer drive home Sunday. At the start of the tournament it was breezy and in the mid nineties. As the full moon rose it seemed like it was going to be a nice bright night. Well as usual Mother Nature decided to challenge us even more. How about some cloud cover, (front!) and the wind a little more than most would like. The water temperature started at 79.9 degrees and only dropping about two degrees all night. The total catch was 39 fish for 74.04 Lbs. with an average of 1.89 per fish.

First Place went to Sego and Steve Mazzie (photo above). They had Five fish for 11.68 Lbs. and Big Fish of the tournament. The big fish was 4.46 Lbs. They started near Fleming Meadows and soon realized the wind was too much, so made a run to the other end of the lake. Good decision on their part because the June bug lizards worked well for them. Oh by the way that is Sego's third victory in a row. Congratulations.

Kyle Mulhair and Sunny Lumidad took Second Place with a total weight of 10.10! Using a variety of worms including smoke color, junebug, and witches "T" Allowed them to get that nice limit.

Again in Third Place were Cliff Heron and Matt Fellion. They had a total of five fish for 9.38 Lbs. Cliff threw red and black ringworms while Matt threw flukes for their nice finish. Now that sounds like teamwork.

Coming in Fourth Place was Eric Smith and Amber Smith. They used one of everything and caught one on all of them! They weighed in at 8.02 but ended up with 7.02 because of a short fish penalty. This was their first tournament in the club! Congratulations and welcome to The Bass Busters!

Henry Silva and Diana Pozas took fifth Place with two fish for 5.60 Lbs. We got the 4.08 Lb. Kicker on a Berkley 8" flipping worm. Lost fish was our bad luck!!

Henry Silva Rich Anderson and Bill Ice had some good luck and some bad as they slid into Sixth Place. They had a limit that weighed in at 11.40 Lbs. but unfortunately Rich's livewell pump broke and all of their fish died. They had a total penalty of 6.20 taking their official weight to 5.20 Lbs. They split shotted red oxblood and "Rhythm and Blues" worms.

In Seventh place were Bob Schmidt and his Grandson. They had a total weight of 4.32 Lbs. after a .60 penalty for two dead fish. They got their fish on Black Spinnerbaits

Terry Landsdowne and Don Snell were in Eighth Place. They had a total weight of 3.66Lbs for 2 fish. Don wouldn't say what they used and Terry said he was sleeping so he didn't know what they used either.

Hass and Joe Rudd took Ninth Place with a total weight of 3.30 Lbs. Their fish cam on a super spook.

And rounding out the top ten were Mark Mcvay and Tammi. They both got a keeper and had a total weight of 3.30. A worm and a spook did it for them.

Don Pedro Big Fish
1st Sego: 4.46 lbs.
2nd Henry Silva: 4.08 Lbs.

Message From the President

Congratulations to Sego and Steve for their victory at Lake Don Pedro. That makes three in a row for a Sego!! Lets see someone challenge him at Mc Clure, I know I will be!!!

A reminder that the next tournament is another night tournament at Lake Mc Clure. It is a draw tournament so make sure you are at the meeting, which is the first Thursday of August at 7:30 PM at Harry's Haufbraugh From what I have been told we are going to have a nice raffle at this meeting.

You know it would be nice for everyone to get his or her pictures after each weigh in. It only takes a few seconds and they add to the newsletter and I always get doubles in case you would like one!
