Bass Busters Newsletter
June 2000

The Bass Busters Sixth tournament was held at New Melones. Our June tournament also includes our Tournament of Champions. (TOC) The TOC is the top twenty finishers from last year's final standings, competing for a TOC first place trophy. After the tournament the club pays for a BBQ and award presentation and then a nice raffle. It made weigh-in a little difficult this year because of the team format but everything went well. The conditions at Melones were nice. Clear skies, 81-degree water, hot air temperatures, and a slight breeze allowed the anglers to bring 41 fish the first day and 34 fish the second day. The weights were 64.68 Lbs. and 75 Lbs. even. That's a total of 139.68 Lbs. for an average weight per fish of 1.86 Lbs.

Congratulations to Rich Anderson for winning this years TOC. He weighed 5 fish for 10.80 Lbs. The closest competitor was over three pounds behind him. Spinnerbait.

First Place was Sego and Steve Mazzie. They caught five fish on Saturday for 7.92 Lbs. The 2nd day their weight was a nice 16.92 Lbs., with a nice 8-pound even kicker! Their total weight for the two days was 24.84 Lbs. They got their fish with Spooks in the morning, spinnerbaits and split shotting the rest of the day.

Second Place went to Cliff Herron and Matt Fellion. Cliff and Matt had limits both days with 6.74 the first and 13.76 the second day for a total of 20.50 Lbs. Spooks split shotting and Crankbaits were the key to their success. Cliff topped of the second day limit with a nice 5.46 kicker fish. Nice!

Second Place Next in Third Place was Hass and Eric Smith. A couple more limits each day put them right behind the Second place weight. They had 10 fish for 20.22 Lbs. They used Spooks ALL DAY LONG! Way to guys!

Richard Anderson and Bob Schmidt grabbed Fourth with a total weight of 19.88 Lbs. They had 11.46 lbs. on Saturday and brought in 8.42 Lbs. on Sunday. They used a variety of baits including spooks, rip baits, white spinnerbaits, and worms.

Finishing in Fifth Place were Jake Newby and Amber Smith. with Limits on both days. Their total weight was 16.96 Lbs. for the weekend. Spooks rip baits and chug bugs allowed them to catch 7.78 on Saturday and 9.18 on Sunday.

In Sixth place were Mark Mc Vay and Ed Hawkins. Spooks and worms worked for them with 3 fish on Saturday and five fish on Sunday. They had 3.84 lbs. and 9.04 lbs. for a total weight of 12.88 lbs.

Terry Landsdown and Doc came in with a total of 11.88 lbs. putting them in Seventh place. They weighed in five fish for 8.46 on Saturday. Sunday was a little tougher for them with 3 fish for 3.42. The baits for them were some topwater stuff, worms, and "Spittin Images"

Tom Miller and partner Mark Dimas were in 8th Place with 6.90 Lbs. They got theirs on worms and rip baits. Rounding out the top nine were Don Snell and Bill Ice. They had a total of 5.62 and all they said was dynamite for their bait. I don't think so because dynamite would have worked better than that!
