Fishing Berreyessa Sat i caught a real nice smallie on a silver kastmaster!  Thats the first time that i have ever caught a bass on a Kastmaster.  Does that count??

i always catch bass on a kastmaster, if i cant catch em on anything else i usually throw a rooster tail, i little crub or cast master and usually get a reaction

My guess is, everyone who caught a LMB off dead bait caught it either right after they cast or when the bait was in some current, making the bait move around.  There's no way a LMB will pick up a piece of corn off the bottom but could be fooled if the corn was moving on the end of a tippet.

If it turns out I'm wron, I guess I'll be soaking salmon eggs at the pond the next time I'm looking for ye old bigmouth.  Tongue

I caught a 3 lb LMB on pink powerbait when I was a kid. Had it sitting on the bottom of camp far west hoping SOMETHING would bite. guess it worked.

As you were reeling in?  Uh, huh  Wink

Or, perhaps a bluegill was pecking at the bait.  LMB will attack bait out of jealousy.  I think they're attracted to all the commotion.  So I guess I am adding to my spiel now.
