Depends.  Where are you heading out to?  The Fly Shop in Redding covers much of the water up that way, Vaughn's Sporting Goods has a page for the stuff local to them near the Burney area, etc...

Be more specific, you'll get better answers.

Nothing beats knowing some entomology.  If you understand that, you can be prepared to fish anywhere.  Some bugs, like mayflies, are very predictable.  For example, Blue Wing Olives are fall and winter bugs.  Pale Morning Duns are spring and summer bugs.  The person who understands the entomology will have an advantage over the person who doesn't.

There are plenty of good books on the topic.  Schollmeyer's Hatch Guide for Western Streams is a great pocket book reference.  Ralph Cutter's Fish Food is another great book.

But if you need a quick reference, here is an online site.

Good luck with your fishing endeavors.

ttf - This site might give you some help.  Click on the "Hatches" bar at the top of the main page.

http://stevenojai.tripod.com/homepage.htm#

This kind of info is good but very general.  You won't know whats going on th day you go fishing until you are actually on the water. What hatches and when on a daily basis is affected by time of year, temperature, light, and maybe even barometric pressure. But the general info gives you an idea of what is found in a particular place at a particular period during the year so you can hopefully have some of that stuff along.

Good fishing.
