Christmas in Fish sniffer Country Christmas In Fish Sniffer Country

Stripers are in the delta. Steelhead are surging into coastal rivers. Most of the state's deer seasons are closed and duck hunters are oiling their scatterguns. All these clues lead to only one conclusion..Christmas is right around the corner!

After a long hot summer dominated by $4 dollar a gallon gas and out of this world electric bills pushed to astronomic levels by running the air conditioner nonstop, I think most folk's wallets are a bit thinner than they would like them to be.

Regardless of your wallet's thickness you are going to buy Christmas presents for friends and family this year and you might even throw in a couple of things for yourself, this much is a given. Having said that, this year Christmas shopping for many folks will consist of buying smaller items and looking for good deals. For example instead of buying that $200 reel, you might just settle for a much cheaper, yet just as useful selection of lures.

For the angler, rods and reels, sonar units and trolling motors are all cherished high dollar items that can definitely help you catch fish. Yet, there is one asset that successful anglers possess that you can't really attach a dollar value to. I'm talking about knowledge. The knowledge of where fish are located and how to make them strike is more important than all the gear you can pack into your garage. It is knowledge that separates anglers that go out on the water hoping to catch fish from anglers that motor away from the dock knowing they will catch fish.

Here at the Fish Sniffer Magazine we are devoted to providing anglers with the knowledge required to be successful. A lot of the folks that visit the Fish Sniffer website have never had the opportunity to look over the print edition of the Fish Sniffer Magazine.

We have the number one fishing website in the world, but the driving force behind what you see here on the web is the print edition of the magazine. For those of you that might be unfamiliar with the magazine, let me tell you a little bit about it.

It was started back in the 1980's at the kitchen table of Hal and Winnie Bonslett and now nearly 30 years later has arguable become the nation's number one fishing only magazine!

Our publication is written for anglers, but just as importantly it is written BY anglers, not by a bunch of pasty looking fellows that almost never leave the office. As I write this I just came off the water after spending 48 hours in the delta chasing stripers and I'll be out on the ocean in two days looking for crabs and lingcod. Our publisher, Allen Bonslett and his mom Winnie are currently down in Baja stalking tuna, dorado and billfish. Our senior editor, Dan Bacher is planning a bottom fishing adventure to Santa Cruz and our advertising director is off on a 4 day jaunt that will take him to both Eagle Lake and Lake Almanor. This week we will tell our readers what is happening on the delta, in Baja, at Eagle and Almanor and off the California Coast because we will have actually visited all these locations.

We know the West Coast fishing scene intimately and our business is passing on knowledge, tips, techniques and tidbits to our readers that enable them to be successful when they hit the water!

Our reports cover every area of the Golden State in terms of both freshwater and saltwater fishing, as well as reporting on Southern Oregon, Nevada and of course the Baja Peninsula. Every issue includes several fishing features, a comprehensive how to feature, a map feature, a conservation feature, an upcoming events calendar, the tides, dozens of staff and reader photos and a whole lot more. And you can rest assured that the information you find in the Fish Sniffer will be up to date because we publish every other week 26 times a year!

To say that a subscription to the Fish Sniffer Magazine is the perfect Christmas gift for the angler, might just be the understatement of the holiday season!

You can purchase a subscription to the magazine right here, right now! You can even renew your own subscription at the same time!

Over the past year, in addition to the work I do at the Fish Sniffer Magazine, I've stayed busy working on several projects of my own. I've published a pair of highly successful fishing books. The first book, The Trout Fishing Handbook is 165 pages long and covers everything you need to know about trout fishing with the exception of fly fishing with fly tackle. Subjects covered within the 50,000 word book include, trout biology, basic bank fishing, advanced bank fishing, basic trolling, advanced trolling, selecting and rigging a trout boat, how to troll for trophy browns, how to target both keeper and trophy size macks, how to troll with natural baits, how to prepare and roll shad, how to care for the trout you catch, how the weather effects trout, how to take a great photo and more!

My second book, the Delta Fishing Handbook is roughly the same length as the trout fishing book consisting of 162 pages, more than 100 photo illustrations and more than 50,000 words. The Delta Fishing Handbook unlocks the secrets of catching both striped bass and sturgeon while fishing delta waters. The book focuses on bait fishing strategies. It covers subjects such as the history and life style of delta stripers and sturgeon, selecting appropriate tackle, selecting baits, preparing and rigging baits, setting up a boat for delta fishing, how to located stripers and sturgeon, how to present your baits, how to execute when the strike comes, how to net and snare big fish, how the weather and tides effect your strategy, how to care for and clean your catch, tasty sturgeon and striper recipes and more.

Beyond my books, I appeared in a DVD produced by the Pro-Cure Company along with Captain Barry Canevaro of Fish Hookers Sportfishing. In the DVD we outline how to catch both stripers and sturgeon in delta waters while using a variety of different Pro-Cure products. As a bonus the DVD features an episode of Angler West Television in which Canevaro, Bob Simms and I team up to battle the delta's stripers and sturgeon.

The Trout Fishing Handbook sells for $16.95, while the Delta Fishing Handbook goes for $17.95. The Pro-Cure DVD has a suggest price of $24.95, but I'm selling it to Fish Sniffer folks for $19.95.

As a special offer between now and Christmas, I'm offering The Trout Fishing Handbook and the Delta Fishing Handbook as a two book set for $32. Throw in the DVD and I'll give you both books and the DVD for $50. That represents a whole lot of fishing know how for a low low price. To get this deal you must mention this web article.
