Another 15 minutes of dragging the lizard and my focus had wandered to boat
positioning or searching for something on the graph, when suddenly I felt
the slightest twitch in the palm of my hand. Immediately, I glanced down at
the tip of the rod and noticed a good three to four feet of slack line
laying on the water. "There's no possible way I could have felt a hit
through all that slack line," I thought to myself.
I carefully lifted the rod tip to see if there was any pressure on the
line. As the slack tightened, there seemed to be more resistance than a 1/4
ounce bullet weight could muster, so I quickly snapped the rod back and
layed into our first fish of the day. Before I could figure out why I had
set the hook, there was a beautiful 4 pound largemouth laying in the net.
After several months of using these rods, I have learned to trust the
incredible amount of sensitivity that is transferred through the GLX blank.
Since that first experience, I have had the same thing happen numerous
times and I no longer question whether or not it was a bite that I felt.
Since switching over to the GLX, I have no doubt that I'm feeling strikes
that I wouldn't feel on other rods.
There are 11 new GLX models available at this time. The GLX line includes
four casting rods from 6 to 7 feet in length and seven spinning rods from 6
to 9-1/2 feet in length. For additional information on the full line of GLX
rods, see your nearest G. Loomis dealer or call 1-800-662-8818.
