DON PEDRO BASS/KING SALMON/RAINBOW TROUT
By Garry Erck
(La Grange) Don Pedro continues to produce for anglers hitting its waters. Kings and trout will be the main quarry limits right now as kokanee havent shown up in significant numbers yet. We are seeing mixed limits right now, said Monte Smith of Gold Country Sportfishing. Kings are the majority and trout make up the rest. Rolled shad 60-100 feet deep will score on both species. Kings will be deeper for the most part, but larger trout will stage deeper from time to time. Work main lake waters for better concentrations of kings.
Looking for bass? Then target the beds, reported Manny Basi of The Bait Barn. Toss white plastics tubes or creatures. The Hydra 3 inch pearl white tube by Damiki has been exceptionally hot this past week. The River-2-Sea S-Waver in light trout is good for the few bass looking to the swimbaits and we are also seeing good action on brown and purple jigs with a green pumpkin trailer. Work shallow waters across the lake.
Don Pedro is currently holding at 81% of capacity

Great Places to Fish
The San Francisco bay offers a wide variety of fishing opportunities. All the anadromous species pass through the Golden Gate during their migrations. In the bay you will find California halibut, leopard shark, sturgeon, and striped bass. The sportfishing fleet frequents the Cordell Banks and the Farallon Islands. Both are excellent rock fisheries and during the season you will also find salmon. The local reservoirs provide warm water fresh fishing with the most notable being San Pablo Reservoir. Every once and a while you hear of a bass pushing 10 lbs. If you're in the Bay Area and you just have to fish, this might be the spot. Pier fishing is available at Pacifica and Berkeley.
