    Any time that anglers in a boat hook two trout simultaneously while fishing a mountain lake is a cause for celebration, but hooking a fish on four rods is even more exciting.

    The pandemonium of a quadruple hook-up marked the beginning of a trolling adventure that I made on July 16 to Jackson Meadows Reservoir with Bret Brady of Bare Bones Guide Service and my neighbor, George Lau.

    Located on the Middle Fork of the Yuba River in Nevada County at 6040 feet above sea level, Jackson Meadows is a quality fishery characterized by its large numbers of robust holdover rainbows. The DFG plants both catchable and fingerling rainbows in this forage-rich reservoir located in a former mountain meadow.

    Lau and I met Brady that morning about 8:30 am at the Pass Creek boat ramp after a 2-3/4 hour drive from Sacramento. Brady got on the lake at 6:00 am and reported superb success while fishing solo.
