    Re: wiring question(s)

I'm guessing that your Can is less then 15'..
So, I'd run a 10 ga. wire for both hot ( red +) and ground ( blk - ) wires. I'd also install a 30 amp circuit breaker ( auto or Manual) at the battery for the Hot wire.

and Run the Blk ( neg.) wire to a Terminal block to run all the grounds too. simular to below,

DO NOT use the Boat as a "Ground"

Grease every connection with dielectric when finished.

    Re: wiring question(s)

Well I had hoped to post some pics but turns out the switch panel I had/have was either misplaced during our move in April or thrown out somehow. Looks like I'll be searching for another, something like this:
    Gander Mountain® > Overtons Marine 3-Gang Switch Panel - Boating > Electrical & Lighting > Switches & Panels > Switch Panels :

The wiring from bow and stern lights to where the panel will be installed is already complete with 18 gauge, soldered, greased, shrink tubed and run through 3/8in flex tube customized to match boat interior. I'm just uncertain what gauge to run from the battery to the switch panel.

for lights anything 14-20 gauge, don't need marine wire(tin plated copper strands), I would recommend soldering connectors and using electrician's grease on connections to keep out the effects of salt and moisture.

Not having it in front of me I believe they are daisy chained. I will see if I can get pics up a bit later.

    Re: wiring question(s)

There is no minium lenth to run. And actually the shorter the better using nice routing. Are the switces fused individualy? what size?
or does it need a main fuse only? ( should have one at the battey on the 'red' hot wire anyway)
Are the switches jumpered with a hot wire? (daisy chained)

Can you take a pic of the switch panel ( frt/bk ) and the battery setup ? this would make it easier to give good advice.
Plus, Don cannot read to well at his age... pics are much better for him..

    wiring question(s)

Im getting ready to do the final "mod" on my tincan before I clean it up and post for sale but looking for a bit of advise. I mounted the bow and stern lights last week and ran the wiring to were I'm going to install a 3-switch panel. One switch will be for nav lights with the remaining 2 left open for new owner to do as he/she sees fit (ie, interior lights, FF, or whatever). I now need to run the wiring from the battery to the switches. So my first "Q" is, what gauge wire do you guys suggest I use for that? Also, is there a minimum length I should run, as the switches will only be about 12in from the battery box? Finally, should these cables be "marine grade" which I've used from the lights to the switches?
