Hey folks, they're here now. What are you all doing to prevent the spread?

My tin can is unpainted which allows me to acid wash it with Toon Brite and a green scotch brite. I also wash it with Rain-X car wash soap so the water sheets off of it. It's a performance hit for sure but I'm no longer worried about loosing 1 mph on my top end. My bunks are carpeted now but I'm changing them to UHMW plastic as soon as my order comes in from Tap Plastics.

I'm not sure what to do about the trailer yet. I'm thinking that maybe I'll clear coat it and wax the heck out of it once every couple of months. It doesn't stay in the water very long so it's probably not going to be a problem.

Anyone else have any good tips. We all really need to be concerned about this now. When it was just in SoCal we up north sort of thumbed our noses at the problem. We have real prove that its here now so lets all be proactive.

The number one thing I always do is pull the plug out at the ramp so the boat is on a fairly steep angle and even the slightest amount of bilge water will drain out. Mines never had any water in the bilge but I still do it.

No not really. I was doing my quarterly on the boat and trailer today. Acid wash, Rain-X wash, blast out the interior, change the oil in the motor, change the lube in the wheels, wax it.. You all know the routine right.

When I changed the oil I found I had about 1/8 cup more than I put in it last time. Is this a bad sign????? No, I only have 85.8 hours on the motor and all four stroke Mercs and Yami's make a little oil. These motors can run at 6000 RPM and the engine doesn't really start to seal up until about 3500 RPM. If you run at trolling speeds a lot then you can expect to see these motors make a little oil. It's just fuel getting past the rings at low rpms and 1/8 of a cup every 50 hours is normal.

If you're making more than that you do have a problem but this small amount is nothing to worry about.

Just thought I'd mention it in case any of you ran into it and were freaking out.

The Manager...

A young guy from West Virginia moves to Florida and goes to a big "everything under one roof" department store looking for a job.

The Manager says, "Do you have any sales experience?" The kid says "Yeah. I was a vacuum salesman back in West Virginia."

Well, the boss was unsure, but he liked the kid and figured he'd give him a shot, so he gave him the job.

"You start tomorrow. I'll come down after we close and see how you did."

His first day on the job was rough, but he got through it. After the store was locked up, the boss came down to the sales floor.

"How many customers bought something from you today?" The kid frowns and looks at the floor and mutters, "One". The boss says "Just one?!!? Our sales people average sales to 20 to 30 customers a day.

That will have to change, and soon, if you'd like to continue your employment here. We have very strict standards for our sales force here in Florida. One sale a day might have been acceptable in West Virginia, but you're not in the mines anymore, son."

The kid took his beating, but continued to look at his shoes, so the boss felt kinda bad for chewing him out on his first day. He asked (semi-sarcastically), "So, how much was your one sale for?"

The kid looks up at his boss and says "$101,237.65".

The boss, astonished, says $101,237.65?!? What the heck did you sell?"

The kid says, "Well, first, I sold him some new fish hooks. Then I sold him a new fishing rod to go with his new hooks. Then I asked him where he was going fishing and he said down the coast, so I told him he was going to need a boat, so we went down to the boat department and I sold him a twin engine Chris Craft. Then he said he didn't think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him down to the automotive department and sold him that 4x4 Expedition."

The boss said "A guy came in here to buy a fish hook and you sold him a boat and a TRUCK!?" The kid said "No, the guy came in here to buy tampons for his wife, and I said, 'Dude, your weekend's shot, you should go fishing..

Long time contractor, son is commercial electrician and brother in law is retired electrical contractor. Have a crap load of stranded copper wire, THHN, some spools but lots of ends and leftovers. Have recycled some as just something to kill time but its a pain in the butt and I would prefer someone got better use from it. Hate to throw good stuff away and thought maybe some of you might just need some short runs, for boats etc.

If anyone is interested I can bring some with me to the Vet event this coming weekend. I have quite a bit of the smaller sizes but figured interest may be in the no. 4 thru 8 sizes.

No. 4 .70 ft.
No. 6 .60 ft
No. 8 .40 ft

I can probably put together lengths in these sizes from 30 ft. and under not sure if I have spools of those sizes. Let me know if you are interested and how long. Im not gonna get anal about exact measurements so will make sure the lengths are generous. I don't even know what all I have out there make a request if you are interested and I can look, I probably have some 2 and 3 also.

Okay I swear this is not rocket science!! Who has drip system experience?

We just got our irrigation installed for the backyard, and I've never been so excited about (legal) grass before! Now I'm finishing up the drip system...Im 95% done, but now I'm just tweaking it a little. I have the main line in, emitters in, etc, etc. What I'm confused about is there are several emitters, the bubble fan type that just don't kick out much water, and the rest don't really kick out as much as it seems they should. Let's just say the box said 3ft spray and I'm barely getting 1 ft. I guess not enough water pressure?? I dunno. Is there something i can put on the line to better regulate pressure? The landscaper said for the size of garden we would be okay. Check out the picture to get an idea of the size of garden.

I cleared out the lines for dirt and that didn't really didn't do anything for the emitter problem. I want to put in a soaker hose for some of the areas that seems more practical. But all the soaker hose I find hooks up to a faucet. Can I hook it up to the main drip system line? Also how long do I need to water? Some websites say an hour? But that seems like a lot for our garden. Ahh! I can only google so much!

When I first started...

Well i've been battling this addiction for a while. I would never admit it before, but now i'll agree that i have a problem.

When I first started it was just something to do with friends to pass the time. I started out with the cheap stuff and i'd do it with a couple friends while we drank beer and joked around. After a while it got worse, I wanted to do it all the time, and I wanted better stuff. I even got to the point where I stopped drinking beer while doing it, so i could enjoy the high. I started spending more and more money on it, I could blow $100 in matter of minutes. Sometimes I would even call in sick at work so I could binge on it all day. When I did it nothing else mattered, and I felt a euphoric buzz so strong when I did it.

It was easy to hide it from my kids when they were younger, but as they got older they began to notice. They would wake up and dad would be gone. Sometimes I have even missed school functions for them too, just to support my habit. Sometimes when they see me getting ready to do it they cry and ask me not to do it, but still I do.

After all that, I still have no plan of stopping, actually I want to do it more. I even want to try a more purer form of it. It's not alcohol, drugs, or women.

I'M A STONE COLD JUNKIE........AND FISHING IS MY DRUG OF CHOICE :kermit:

My wife says I ought to buy a "real Boat" and a new truck to Pull it with. I am more interested in a truck to traverse the rough routes to backcountry lakes. I still have a short bed reg. cab 35 year old F-150 that was great in it's day: 2-speed cast iron trans, solid front axle and 4speed w/granny. It would need to be totally rebuilt and gets 11 mpg at best. Also have a 15 year old Dodge diesel that has been a good tug boat that is ok on the less challenging roads as long as it it has a track-bar transplant every 15,000 miles. I have been impressed with friends Tacomas but would like more room. Any opinions?
