Hey Wolf..on the little truckee..do you mean that part that goes north up along hwy 89, noth of I-80?
The Little Truckee is a tailwater about 2-3mi long between Boca and Stampede reservoirs. It is artificial & single/barbless regs all year, and tends to get very crowded with fly anglers on the weekends & during peak season. At times it can be hard to catch fish since the stream gets so much pressure, but there are also big fish there because most people practice C&R there and I think the limit is like 1 fish over 14" only. Beautiful area too.
I had some family in town this weekend so we decided to do a little fly fishing. My brother was in Tahoe for work so we hit the West Fork Carson on Friday. The action was slow with mostly small fish. On Saturday we hit the Little Truckee and got into some better fish. The action wasn't fast but the quality made up for it. I didn't even get a bite but here is a pic of a rainbow landed by my brother-in-law. There were two more caught around the same size. I need to work on my skills. Too much work lately. Two fish was taken on nymphs and the other on a San Juan worm.
