Re: Lowrance/Humminbird -12
Thanks Guys
I was playing around with the HDS-8 gen-2 for around 15 minutes and found out more about the bottom of my local lake than I knew and I have been fishing the lake for 30 Years!!!! I did notice a big difference in the Insite maps, for Tahoe it is much better than the current Navtronis Platinum chip, and it comes with the bundle. I guess the 3-D overlay may not work without the Nav chip, but not sure; Still in the discovery mode, lots of options, but not as hard to learn as a Garmin unit I had a few years back, every time I went fishing I had to re-read the 100 page book, nightmare... (threw it overboard). I think this is close to the E-120 RayMarine unit I had on my boat in Bodega at 1/3 the price, except for the smaller screen (don't see as good as I use to). Looking forward to seeing just how good the images really are. I see the structure scan may not work in the deeper water, I have found out that some of the edges I have fishing go from 50 feet to 900 ft in a matter of yards.
Thanks again

Re: Lowrance/Humminbird question
There will be NO conflict. You will love the LSS and the DSI sonar.

They will not conflict with each other at all. Each GPS uses a device specific ID when satellite connections are established. Even if by extreme random chance there is a conflict with a single satellite, the other 12-18 connections will not conflict.

Lowrance/Humminbird question
I have an I-Pilot trolling motor and Love it, my question is: If I install a Lowrance HDS 8 with SS will the GPS function be effected on either machine? Humminbird says their products will not conflict but they can't say for sure about another product, and Lowrance say's the same thing...
Thanks for any hands-on input
Hercules
