    Re: Broken Reel

Here are some links to the older accurist. I have four of these and about ten of the Curados. But the Accurist design is very solid and easy to operate. With less technical difficulties you can concentrate on catching fish. You can point out an experienced fisherman by how often they have their line in the water. If you match your skills with the dependable gear then you will become a fishing machine. Take for example:

Most guys pitch by grabbing the bait with their left hand and swinging the rod with their right. Well if you watch the pro's on TV, they do not touch the bait with their left. They basically reel in enough line (about the first guide on rod) and pitch the bait into the next potential area all in one motion. Watch Skeet pitch:

I'll second the advice on the older curado's and accurists. You can get the firemist gold accurist 2 on ebay all the time and they usualy go for $30-$45.

    Re: Broken Reel

You can put braid on any spinning or baitcaster reel. According to Quantum, some reels however are better design for them. My go to reels are the old green Curados and the Quantum Accurist. They're dependable and smooth casting. They do not backlash often because they have a centrifugal brake system vs the mag type. I never was a big fan of the mag type. You can purchase the curados used for around $65 to $90. The new ones are about $170 but they are better. They do not make the Accurist anymore but you maybe able to find old stock on Ebay, Bass Tackle Depot, and Tackle warehouse.

Bass pro is very good about repairing their reels. Email them, send it in, they will probably do it for free. My friend had one serviced for free he never bought there.

    Broken Reel

So my new reel broke sometime last night and i have no idea why. It was working fine late afternoon then this morning it wont cast far and the drag is not tight at all. I mean it was cheap but really? One week? Its a Bass Pro bait caster and it was my only heavy reel that i could put 65 braid on. If anyone has an extra-cheap baitcaster that can hold 65 braid please pm me with a price because i just moved up here and am going to Sac State and i need a reel to fish the weeds.
    Thank You
    Kyle
