Re: Tool for deep water Mack "Catch and Release"

I have been using the Seaquilizer the last few years for Macs at tahoe and stripers at San Luis Reservoir and it works great. I just attach it to my downrigger and drop them down. Release is like a Boga grip.

The one you show on Amazon is ok but I believe the 30/50/70 striper version is better for fishing around here. Also, get the large jaw size option. Bigger and holds macs and stripers perfect.

Re: Tool for deep water Mack "Catch and Release"

Glad you found a tool that works well. I've used the low tech descenders and they took me some practice.

Mack's get the swim bladder distention about as bad as rockfish. Cutthroat in Pyramid do too. Never caught browns or rainbows that deep, so I don't know if they're susceptible or not.

Thanks for the info on the cool new toy.

Thanks for the additional info, Bill.

I'm not very familiar with that fishery.

Perhaps barotrauma isn't the correct term but their air bladders are so expanded after being pulled up from 150 to 250 feet that they are unable to swim back as they are basically balloons on the surface. This tool makes it an easy, quick and a successful release.

Tool for deep water Mack "Catch and Release"

I just starting to use this new tool for overcoming the Barotrauma caused by bringing the fish up from the Depths.
It worked flawless and now i can now easily save the Juvenile fish and any others i want to return safely.
Highly recommend this and you can find it on amazon.

    • Pressure activated decompression tool designed as an alternative method to venting
    • Recommended when fishing at depth that any fish returned should be released
    • Attach the SeaQualizer to your fishes bottom lip and slowly send the fish back down
    • Jaws pop open allowing the fish to return itself to the bottom

Sebile Sea Qualizer SQL Recompress Tool, 50/100/150-Feet
