Thumbs up Tahoe Browns, Rainbows and Macks 2/12/2017

Tahoe Browns, Rainbows and Macks 2/12/2017 . The last 4 weeks have been tough fishing with the weather and putting the PT-109 in Lake Tahoe that is for sure . The last Heavy rains washed alot of the snow pack away and caused major flooding, Mud ,and rock slides everywhere in the Tahoe Basin .The ramp at Cave Rock is currently open . There is a rock slide that has closed hwy 50 at Logan shoals just north of Cave Rock both ways . There is a closure of hwy 50 west of echo summit to Pollock pines both ways . Carson pass has closed several times every day due to snow avalanches. We have bee fishing for macks ( 3 to 17 pounds ) in 80 to 150 feet with dodgers and minnows and flat fish ( white / chrome ) . Cal Neva pt., Tahoe city shelf ( which is heavily Loaded with Mackinaw ) and sugar pine point . Go deeper as the sun rises. Toplining for Rainbows, Browns, and Macks has been slow to good depending on the day . We have hit Deadman Point, skunk Harbor, and eagle point to Baldwin beach for some nice fish 1 to 7 pounds . One day a couple macks 3 to 5, then the next some rainbows 1 to 3 and a Brown or 2 in the 20inch to 26 inch realm . The next day NADA . Smaller Stick baits 1.5 inchs to 6 inchs have been key in rainbow, chub, minnow, and brown patterns . Bend your tie in down a little and try to your chosen lure to wiggle with good action at the slowest speed you can troll reasonably right in Danger close to the shore and submerged boulders. 10 to 20 feet is good. If you do not know the terrain then stay out deeper ..say 25 feet of so and use countdowns , lead core, or rubber core sinkers 5 feet ahead of your favorite lure. Use scents such as trophy trout or shrimp . Water is more cloudy and full of debris next to south shore from runoff ( check lures often to clean off ), much clearer everywhere else . Drain your trailer well before pulling up to help the next trailer or yourself later to get out . Cal road link..... http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/ ... and here is Nevada road link .... http://nvroads.com/ ..... and here is the Cave rock and lake Forrest ramps conditions , openings and closures..... http://tahoeboatinspections.com/category/news/ ....
