Re: The american river- year of the sea lions

Their numbers are on a steady increase and the more time they spend in the river their fear of people decreases. At some point peoples' smaller boats will start getting overturned by sea lions looking for fish. Once a couple people drown they might consider doing something about the infestation.

Don’t expect it to get any better in the future either. With seals and sea lions being protected the population is booming and they are searching for new and easy food sources.
They follow every spawn now, salmon, shad, stripper, sturgeon and even the steel head. They are around our place on steamboat almost year round now feeding on whatever they catch it’s not just the salmon run anymore.
    Just my 2c.
