    Re: Thermalito Afterbay

After reading that steelhead were planted in the Thermalito afterbay
I just had to give it a try.
My fishing partner and I were on the water at 7 and headed to
    the middle part.
I set my top line rod up with a silver dodger/crawler combo.
the other rod had a blue silver rapala.
With in the first 1/2 hour the rapala gets a hit and it's a 8 maybe
9 inch steele.Back in the water it went.
I put a copper with red tape cripple lure on the lead core rod
    and go out 1 1/2 colors for a 2nd 10'' fish.
About an hour later we get a 3rd fish crawler/watermelon dodger
on the top line rod.We ended up boating a total of 3 small steelhead
all put back to grow up.
So we took a tour around the place and I did not realize the
afterbay was as big as it is.
The deepest part of it is a big 22ft,and you can be in 10ft in no time.
The depth is real strange but the bass guys like it.
I figure by next winter the fish will be good size
    like they were in 2013.
Sorry for such a long post.

I would call F&G and ask the specific question. Make sure you get and record the wardens name to whom you spoke (CYA). just my $.02.

    Thermalito Afterbay

I'm headed to the afterbay tomorrow to do
some trolling for the planted steelhead.
During past years I've fished the afterbay I
have used a dodger/crawler combo with pretty
    good success.
What else should I try as far as tackle?
And do the regular regs apply since their land
    locked?
Don't want to get in trouble.
    thanks.
