    I don't know about fishing on anchor but the minnow bite while drifting or slowly trolling down river has been wide open this year. 50+ fish days have been the norm, 50/50 keepers to shakers. You could catch 100 or more if you have enough minnows and put in the time. I do agree that bigger fish come on artificials though and the price of minnows can add up.

    Sardines are very good bait for consistant action . Fish up to 15lbs are caught on them. I have caught lots of stripers using them with crawfish smelly jelly as a extra.

    To me it also seems like the minnow bite has been lackluster this year. Certainly the more of the bigger fish at kL have come on artificials.

    First Keeper of season from KL

    Finally got the boat up and running and ventured upriver from Knights on Sunday the 6th. Caught a bunch of babies on live minnows (at $18 a doz.) Switched to dead anchovies and finally picked up a keeper (about 22"). Talked to a lady at the ramp who limited on much bigger fish using sardines at anchor. Go figure. Will try that once this wind settles down. A much cheaper way to go and apparently very effective.
