    Re: How's the water?

Went out Saturday. Fished somewhere between I-5 and Verona. Didn't see any debris or logs floating. Water was brownish. Anchor fished all day. Checked the lines about every hour to clean off any debris and rebait. Hooked into an oversized sturgeon that I could not get turned around. Never even touched the reel handle during the fight as the fish went downstream and never turned. Took about 150 yards of 65# braid and jumped twice. At least we got to see it. The hook came unbuttoned on the 2nd jump. In my opinion, the water on the sac is more stained than I would like if I were hunting salmon. 2nd trip in a row that a F & G research team came by and asked if we had caught anything.

I checked the water off the bank at Miller Friday afternoon for a minute. Nice day, water was not high, no debris seen floating, no boats out but the water was brown and murky. Last weeks rains really browned up the water and it rained even harder up north that really makes it brown down here and it lasts. It's going to rain some on Friday. Sounds like not much happening from the few reports here exceprt for the zombie and the hard fighting 3 incher..lol.

    Re: How's the water?

My buddy and I went out last Friday, 12/7. Launched at 6:45am from Miller and trolled wrapped qwiks as well as the Pro-Troll/cut plug rigs from the I-Street bridge all the way to the water plant south of Garcia and got off the water around 4pm. Not a single take down or anything really close... we only saw two other boats hunting salmon the whole day. The positives were: the water was exceptionally clean as far as debris is concerned... we hardly had to clean anything of the rigs at all; and it was one of the more beautiful days on the water we've seen all year... not hot or really cold and clear all day.

Water clarity seemed a bit murky, but not much different than the normal greenish tint with about a foot of visibility and temps in the mid 50's.

We did have an interesting encounter with what I assume was a Zombie salmon swimming slowly down river on the surface near the new levy work at the Brickyard... We saw other fish in the area so we went back up and trolled through with the qwiks. No take downs, but a salmon fingerling (3-4") attached himself to one of the lures. The lure was actually bigger than the fish ! I hope that one makes it back in 3-5 years... that aggression in such a little guy should make for a great fighting adult.

We'll be out again probably this weekend to finish the season

With those conditions trolling close to the bank would be your best bet.

My Son and I hit the Sacramento at Discovery Park yesterday (Monday). Fished from 8am to 11:30 am. Trolled Kwiks, silvertrons and Flying A’s off 3 rods. No hits, no runs and 3 Sealions at the mouth of American. Did see 4 or 5 other boaters with about 8 or 10 rods in the water, No thumbs up,

Stayed local from DP down to I St bridge. Beautiful day on the river and as you know, “Time spent fishing cannot be deducted from your life”!! Now, lets spend some time catchin’!

    Just George

The Sac river is dropping. Should be a few nooks intercepted this week.
    Here they come!

The chocolate dirty water doesn't settle down quickly, it stays for a while AND it's going to rain Wed and Mon so more chocolate water, plus the river raising and strong currents because of the rain. I doubt it clears before the closing. The report below sounds bad, big debris, logs and trash plus there's probably not much salmon passing thru now so you can save a 2 hr trip.

    Re: How's the water?

We went out Saturday afternoon with no luck or hits trolling chartruse/silver k-14 w/ sardine wrap, brads cut plug, green/silver/blue Pline lazer minnow, Silverstron double silver blades blue beads. A lot of debris in the river including logs and islands of floating trash. Trolled from Miller to Garcia and back. Visibility was about 6 inches in the water before I could no longer see my lure when putting it in the water. Saw NO fish rolling. Marked some fish but don’t know if they were Salmon or not.

Will be going out again today shortly and can post a pic.
