Re: Just moved to Stockton, looking for carp!

Downtown Stockton especially down by the public launch ramp is good. I use to catch some big boys there using dough balls made with white bread or balls of wheaties cereal mixed with strawberry jello. The secret is use no weight and open free spool. Don't worry about distance or current, the fish are close to the bank and hardly any current. FYI there are a lot of homeless down there walking around, so you have to watch your stuff. The 2 other spots would be the end of Smith canal at American legion park also, also no current and Whiskey slough by the launch ramp. It does have some current so use the lightest weight you can get away with.

I know that sling shots work.

Unfortunately, it is chumming and a violation.

    1.32. CHUMMING.

Placing any material in the water, other than on a hook while angling, for the purpose of attracting fish to a particular area in order that they may be taken.

I've always done good at Weber point, Downtown area by the Arena. Kid friendly and clean because your on concrete and not dirt. U will need a long net or crab net to bring fish up to unhook. Good Luck.. Cornmeal with Bread is prefer bait. FISH ON
