    Recreational can, though I don't remember seeing any females in our catch. When cleaning I saw none but, handled only half. In my experience, early season is almost all males, so we only check for size. I agree females are better left to help the population.

    I don’t think it’s illegal for non commercial fisherman, but that right thing to do is to return them for more production.

    Crab Opener SF

    We dropped pots outside the Gate from 90 to 180 feet on the opener 11/2. Fished the Islands, action was hot with rockfish schooling off the bottom, 20 to 80 feet down. After a 4 hour soak, we had over 3 limits, tossed the rest back for an over night soak. On 11/3 took a crew of 5 to collect the pots, pots far and away from the crowd were suspiciously light with one pot yielding only a single keeper. Last two pots among the crowded strings limited us out. Seems like pickers were out in force, if you would like to check out a video of the trip, click the link below.
