Where did you find those hooks? I'd like to give them a shot. I'm currently using my Owner SST's and K hooks with smashed barbs. But these look like they may hold fish a little better.

As far as losing sturgeon due to the barbless hooks, has anyone tired Gamakatsu's "Big River Bait" hooks or similar hooks? I think the angle of the hook can help from spitting the hook, just a thought. I will be testing them out this weekend.

Fishing, it's cheaper than therapy!

Any lost Dinos?
It shouldn't be tough. If you're fishing sturgeon just use the barbless hook. It's a simple process really.

Re: Any lost Dinos?
What if you had only one barbless hook and hooked a slot sturgeon and tagged it then used that rod to target stripers and snagged it up and lost the barbless hook? The regs do not say how many barbless hooks need to be on board? Its gonna be tough to enforce!!

Re: Any lost Dinos?
So if someone has a sturgeon in possession but no barbless hooks on board, I would think that would be grounds for a ticket? E.g you are striped bass fishing(really, not just saying it) and you incidentally catch a sturgeon on your pile worm. You were targeting stripers but happily hooked a sturgeon. Point being that any incidentally caught sturgeon would need to be released?

Re: Any lost Dinos?
I'll be fine using the barbless hooks. The guys that religiously fish for sturgeon up in Oregon and Washington have been barbless for years, and it doesn't seem to hamper any of them on the Columbia or Fraser. Sure, it'll make it a little more tricky, but it's nothing that will make or break your season. I am worried about striper fishing though, I always use barbed hooks and don't want a warden accusing me of going for sturgeon.

They should do the Wild Justice show but with more fishing action. Id like to hear the excuses that are gunna be said. Playing by the book is the safest cheapest funnest way to enjoy a day of Dino hunting. Tight Iines Everyone!!!!!

The verbage on the definition of "take" includes "attempting" to do so. So if the warden/officer decides you are attempting to take a fish with a barb I don't think its gonna matter what you say you are fishing for? This is one big reason everyone was not digging this piticular rule. Also if the warden/officer thinks you are sturgeon fishing and you do not have a report card thats another ticket.
1.80. Take.
Hunt, pursue, catch, capture or kill fish, amphibians, reptiles, mollusks, crustaceans or invertebrates or attempting to do so.

Buy barbless

or cotton test your dremeled down barbs
