In December I got my biggest keeper to date. Thought it was a striper or catiish for sure,lucky to catch it because I waited so long to set the hook, for me never again, bite set. I have only seen the classic
pump twice in many hours on the water.

It is not always the "pump". Sometimes they do a tapping type bite. Usually a dink striper or flounder but not always! Few years ago fished the powerlines and we were getting all sorts of starry flounder biting. My striper rod was bouncing around like a dink or flounder so as I'm laughing about here goes another flounder I set the hook. That "flounder" took off like nobodys business and turned out to be a sturgeon. I have seen it numerous times.

yup, thanks for the report and agree 100 percent on the striper bites not being what they seem..

Thanks for the report, skunks still provide information. Look out for "striper nibbles', sometimes things are not what they seem.

went to grizzly today for 2 decent takes...swung and a miss lol....soaked eel grass and pile...had a couple what looked like striper nibbles on pile...fished incoming tide..at least im gettin bites now so its starting to pick up! lol tight lines everyone!
