In December I got my biggest keeper to date. Thought it was a striper or catiish for sure, lucky to catch it because I waited so long to set the hook, for me never again, bite set. I have only seen the classic
pump twice in many hours on the water.
It is not always the "pump". Sometimes they do a tapping type bite. Usually a dink striper or flounder but not always! Few years ago fished the powerlines and we were getting all sorts of starry flounder biting. My striper rod was bouncing around like a dink or flounder so as I'm laughing about here goes another flounder I set the hook. That "flounder" took off like nobodys business and turned out to be a sturgeon. I have seen it numerous times.
went to grizzly today for 2 decent takes...swung and a miss lol....soaked eel grass and pile...had a couple what looked like striper nibbles on pile...fished incoming tide..at least im gettin bites now so its starting to pick up! lol tight lines everyone!
