Epic Kevin. It was great talking to you at Heenan. The mystery trout on the WC is an LCT. The fire is off of 395 near Topaz. Beautiful Bows from the Carson and lovely LCT from Heenan. You certainly had a good trip. Your pictures are quite beautiful.

Cool Hope you have fast internet

Over the hills and through the woods a lunker huntin I go!! Left the house around 10am, back at the house at 10:10, forgot my pre-made frozen taco meat. Back on the road at 10:15 and again my journey continues. Up twin cities hit the 88 and over carson pass. Was going to go to glacier lake but missed the turn-off and did not want to sit in road construction again to find it so I decided to check out scotts lake. 3 miles of the bumpiest road Ive been on this summer I arrived at scotts puddle.

Figured I drove up there may as well paddle around for a bit, deepest part I found was around 11ft. Tossed some lures and drifted around a bit, did not mark any fish. 3 more miles of bolt loosening bumps and a few minutes of nice new pavement I was fishing the west fork of the carson. Picked up this beauty, not sure what it is, thought a cutthroat but maybe a hybrid?

Jumped back in the truck and headed down the road a few more miles and picked up this chunky boy. He came home for my neighbor who loves trout.

Back in the truck and continue making my way towards my final destination. One short fish-less stop on the east carson and up monitor pass I head. Found the best camping spot on the hill. (If you don’t require much more than a view.)

Early to bed and early to rise, 1st on the lake is no surprise! I was very impressed that they had the gate open at Heenan when I arrived at 5:45. Sat and BS with the DFG guy for a bit then started getting gear together and yak launched. What a great morning,

Lake to myself, and the early start payed off. The bite was hot until the sun hit the water!! Really tough to take good pics of the fish without taking them out of the water so I only snapped a few.

Took a break to stretch my legs and visit with some of the bankies who turned out to be Captain Compassion & Jetspray. If you have not had the pleasure of meeting these two gents, you are missing out! I could have sat there all day and shot the breeze and absorb there words of wisdom, but the fish were calling.

    Fire to the North East

I trolled around for 11 hours and hooked 19 fish, 11 of which I got to the boat, lots of SDR. I got no proof but I also have no reason to lie.........the biggest one got off about 10 feet from the boat. I have never seen my trout pole bend like that, not even with slamador fish. The cuts dont put up that great of fight for there size but still a lot of fun.
Met up with Bainter 1212 and headed to the east carson to setup camp for the night. Early to bed and early to rise and guess what Im first on the lake again ! (Though barley) I headed to ICR and Bainter off to Heenan.
Heres my first reward of the morn thanks to the fire to the east.

This nice little bow has had a rough life..

Trolled around for a few hours until the bite turned off when the sun hit the water. Heres a nice little ICR cut specimen

    and a pic of ICR

One last stop on the west carson produced this beauty for the skillet and I was headed home!
