Yes indeed, I never travel alone! Always a little steel, alloy or polymer zipped up in bag in the truck. Probably never encounter a situation that necessitates it's use, but it's peace of mind.

That's awesome Bainter! Nice catches too. You're pretty hardcore going camping by yourself... I should try that sometime.

    Btw.. nice fishing/camping rig!

They are all rainbows, the last one has very prominent parr marks. It may be a wild rainbow as opposed to a planter. Parr marks can be more evident on native fish and smaller fish.

    Great report and pics!

Thanks Dirty for the gut hook tip. Two of the fish swallowed my hooks, and I cut the leader close to the mouth and sacrificed the hooks. I'd rather get the fish safely back in the water than keep a lousy hook. That being said, I am considering buying some of the "self-releasing" hooks advertised in the "proper c&r of trout" thread that is a sticky ln the trout board. I had moved up in hook size this time around hoping to avoid swallowed hooks, but I am consistently surprised at what trout will swallow in the space of 2 seconds. I am still transistioning from being a "keep all the fish" type of guy, like I was raised up, and a "C&R most of the time" fisherman.

All of those are rainbows. Some can be different patterned, even if they are from the same river as others. Thanks for going back and reporting!

One tip, it looks like one of those were gut hooked.. If you have a high gut hook ratioi - which is common with smaller fish when bait fishing - you might want to try large circle hooks. They're too big to swallow completely and will hook the fish in the lip 90% of the time.

    Nice report!
