I just got one of those spiral wrapped rods with my new subscription to the fish sniffer and I was wondering if they are any good. I haven't been able to test it out yet, but I have put a reel on it and checked the bend and how responsive it is and it seems promising.
Thanks,

The old standby of letting out bare line and dragging it for a little while is probably the most reliable though.
+1 these always seem to do the trick.......Jetspray

Re: Gear question for trolling.
You can add one more vote for Vance's Spiralwrap rods. They are a big improvement over any other set up I have run over the years. I use them with good quality level wind reels with line counters as well. Sweet set-up for trout and Kokes.

Because I am honestly tired of having to re-spool my spinning reels so frequently. Also, could anyone recommend a good/decent baitcasting rod for trolling for trout/kokes for Lake Berryessa? I already have the reels for bass so I can just switch rods. I was thinking fiberglass... Thank you for all your help and tight lines!!!!!! Eric
If you are in a boat, remove terminal tackle and let the line out behind the boat while moving at idle speed. After letting most of the line on your reel out behind the boat, drag it for a minute or so then reel it in slowly. It will be straight with no twists when you reel it in. Make sure it is spooled tightly on your reel by keeping tension on the line as you reel in.

Hope this answers your question.
Like I said if you ask I'll post some links to those rods and reels if you want me to.

People often ask me why I take a half dozen rods with me and a couple of spare reels. I always just tell them it's because I don't want them to get lonely on the rack. The reality is that its just plain nice to be able to grab a rod all rigged and ready to go if I decide to change up my game plan.

Depends on what you're using, how deep you're going to set at, even what type of line you're using. Me I like to reset with different lures at times and have more than one set on the same type of rod setup........Jetspray
