The Seps Boards are ok in Flat Water. One other thing with the Seps Boards, if some thing happen between the main line, They will sink and you will lose them.

Here are the Boards that i use. I can run up to 3/4 oz of weight and Speeds of 3.5 GPS. They have styrofoam on them, some if something happens, These boards Float. I can go back and retrieve them. I have run them in White Caps at Camanche with great results...

    Re: Side Planer

Went out today to try the new Sep's Side Planers at Camanche. They are simple to use and it takes a bid to get used too. My set back was about 100 to 140 ft and I let out about 20 ft for the Planers to run out to the side. They ran behind the boat about 10 ft and out to the side about 15-18 feet.

The only problem today was the fish had lock jaw not only for use by nearly everyone else we spoke to. We ended up with one planter about 2 lbs. ot him up by the bridge, lost one there too. I shed around Hat, the Dam, Narrows, and out in front of North Shore ramp area. Nice day on the water though. Water Temp averaged 49-50 degrees.

One more thing about the Sep Planers. While they work good, I can foresee issues in rough or choppy water due to their small size. Otherwise, worth the money spent.

Thanks for all the pre help on the Planers. Maybe next time.

well they dont stay behind the boat. mine at the right speed will get about even with the rods.

Don't expect them to run up along side the boat, they will get you out and away, but it will be a bit behind you. Last, they will run with the clip dragging in the water, but thats just how they look.

    have fun, good luck!

mine get up ahead if i'm trolling 1.7 or faster, anything slower and they'll drag. also be sure to use a little stiffer rod and angle the rod up so that you can keep the line off the water.
