Shaver 1-19/20 (trolling)
Made the drive to Shaver on Saturday morning with my buddy. Set up camp 1st, then on the water by 1:15. Fished until dark. We have always done great at Shaver, but this trip started out the opposite. Not a single bite for almost 3 hours. Tried grubs, flasher/worm combo, Kastmasters, and nothing seemed to work until...............Rapala. Within an hour, 8 fish were caught, the largest being a 3.25 lbr. Woke up early and hit the water just as the sun was popping out over the trees and hitting the water. The bite was steady and we even had a double hook-up. Lost 3 fish and managed 7 more by around 8:15 am, and then the bite just turned off. Nothing. We only fished for another hour then headed back to camp, packed up and hit the road.
All fish caught on Rapalas from '200-300' out. Light boat traffic...about 4 boats Saturdasy and 2 on Sunday. Water temp. Sun morning was 39 degrees. The 3 larger fish put up a great fight, but the remaining small ones just hydroplaned accross the water as you brought them in. Boat ramp by the dam had no snow or ice.
