Hit Amador today and left with 3, 2 nice ones and 1 small one. I should have had a limit but missed several. Most people I talked to had some fish, and I did see several limits. The guy fishing next to me caught one that had to go at least 10 pounds, maybe more!

Funny, every time I go there the info from the people in the lodge doesn't seem to work. This morning, they said night crawlers and white pb were the ticket. I had both and rigged one pole with a crawler and 1 pole with pb, didn't get a single bite for 2 hours! A guy shows up next to me and throws out lime green pb, boom, within 5 minutes he's got about a 3 pounder! I switch over to lime green and boom, fish on! I know fish change and I don't hold it against the lodge people, just kind of funny that what they tell me doesn't seem to work!
Have to agree withyou there people in the lodge still think their in the top 2 feet . When you dont see alot of surface action something is wrong . Glad you picked up a few on green though last time I went guy caught an 11 pounder on that garlic pb like a suttle lime color. Hope for more rain waiting for it to spill over .

Well said RideNfish! A report is helpful whether fish were caught or not. Otherwise, people are just bragging haha.

And thanks for the report FishHoundEuby, great to know that the bite was on for ya. Congrats on your catch!

Welcome to the boards and thank you for posting.

Be sure to keep on coming with those reports. Good and bad. If everyone only post when they get fish then it appears everywhere is a hot bite. LOL

Thanks again and glad you found us.

    Cheers,

    Lake Amador hit and miss.

Made it to Lake Amador yesterday with my friend Ed. Ed has a nice boat that three people fish comfortably. We launched around 7 AM and headed for a spot in one of the three major coves on the lake. First spot Ed missed two and his son Scott missed one. We stayed there a little while longer then moved just up the cove a bit where a point comes out. We beached the boat and threw our lines out. We were using Power Eggs/white and Rainbow Power bait. It's amazing to me how trout will go for dough before anything else. That sent I guess just drives them crazy because I had two large trout break my line before landing a couple nice size trout.
I wound up catching my limit an Ed and his son caught their limit as well. There were more fish caught this day than my last trip to Amador. Some people get skunked and others catch their limit. I have been skunked at Amador before and I can tell you it does leave a bad taste in your mouth. Especially after paying the high price to fish there. They don't offer any kind of discount except for Senior people. Some other lakes that charge to fish at least offer veterans a discount. Maybe some day Amador will do the right thing for Veterans. I hope so.
We saw a few people with limits. While cleaning our fish one guy came by with a small trout to give to anyone who wanted it. It was half the size of all of our trout that day. DFG planted a lot of small trout. Fodder for the bass in the lake I guess.
Well, until next time, tight lines to all.
