I suspect the fish likely broke off right under the boat.........ive had plenty of salmon do it to me! between glare from the water, and reflection off the boats hull, its often rather tough to see the fish clearly enough to id them......its a pity it escaped, but it gives one hope that its still swimming, and still hungry......

Pretty Amazing!!!!! Sorry to hear about your loss. If it broke off right before you could net it, how did you not see it? Is the water getting dirty up there? Usually when I lose a fish right before I could net it, it's right next to the boat in sight and in reach of the net. Or do you have a really long net? Still a bummer. What's the air temps in the morning?

I Toplined Hans Solo Style on Lake Tahoe from Deadman Point to Zephyr Cove ..Solo and Finally Hooked into a Monster Fish !!!! 40 minutes Plus of Full Rocket Power and 3 Full Water Jumps !!!! Dam thing broke off right Before I could Net it !!! What a Fish.... What a Fight !!!! I can still feel its Strength and Amazing Spirit !! Next Time Baby !!! It Fought Like a Monster Brown... However....It was so Big I almost think it had to be a Mack... But, I never got a clear view of the Leviathan !!!! However, it is still There ....
