Then you lift up the rod tip and twitch it several times, which picks the weight off the bottom and moves it a foot or two. Then you let the weight fall back to the bottom. Then repeat.

There are also some nice Trout in Kent, but they are tough to catch, with the best bite in late fall.

Paul that's called drop shotting, works great on trout as well, just down size the tackle. I see your really learning the good stuff only thing ah lmb does that a trout won't it launch x3 his body length while smashing a topwater lure. Can scare ya when he does it 3' in front you

I think that is a large mouth bass. There are large mouth and small mouth bass in Bon Tempe. I caught a 2.5 lb small mouth in December while tossing a Kastmaster for trout. I thought I had a monster trout until it rolled and the colors didn't seem right!

Here are some large mouth bass from Kent lake caught this Friday with my son in the early evening:

That last one that Jake caught went 3.75 lbs. Pretty good for early March!

I tried Alpine once but at the furthest point from Bon Tempe. The walls were like 20 feet tall and steep. I found a base of a tree that I got to sit on. It was peaceful as no one person was around there. I am still learning these lakes and trying to figure them out.

On another note, is this a bass? I was fishing Bon Tempe Shady side and there were 1000's of these.

They placed that a year or two ago. Its to pump water in and out of Alpine to Bon Tempe. I think?

Kent Lake is a great lake as well. We went there a couple of times. The hike into it is pretty brutal but that just mean I'm out of shape, haha. Its mostly concrete road but the incline up is gradual. Parking is limited as well.

Once you get into the lake, fishing spot are limited as the bank are steep but manageable. Just be careful of ticks!!

Like other have said, you won't get a lot of quantity but quality fish are in there.

    Good luck if you go
