What boat were you in? I was fishing from the bank near the corner of the dam and saw two boats hook each other! Kind of funny, they were both good natured about it and managed to get their lines untangled without much fanfare, but one guy did lose his lure.
Got on the water at 8 AM. Slight breeze from the east. Water temperature 56.8 degrees. Started trolling around dam area with 2 3/4" rapallas, floaters. Caught 2 fish right out the gate and then we hit a wall. No fish for about an hour. Then it started in again and within 30 minutes we had 3 fish on and only landed one. One lost to the net hook up and one lure break off. Another hr passes with nothing so we hi tailed it off to the back off to the left where "secret spot exists" Soaked some stinky power bait with sliding sincer setup in about 14 ft. of water. No sooner set the pool down and secret spot starts producing. Nice one 4 and half lber. Real pretty lookin fish. Then partner hooked up and landed one almost the same. Then good old secret spot quit producing and after an hour with no more action, we trolled back toward the dam. Didn't get a couple of hundred yards and slam, another beauty. Continued back toward dam and picked up one more fish right in front of the spillway. Now my electric motor is getting tired and starts slowing down. Poor old battery finally gave it up at about 1:00. So we fired up the outboard, made a couple of more passes around the dam area, had one good hit but no hookups. About this time no one was catching, just trolling. 2:00 and back we went to boat ramp. All in all a pretty good day out there. Should have had the limit but we got close. Those fatty cutbows are headed for the smoker. Seems like same pattern of recent trips. 8:30 to 10:00AM they are biting, then the trolling bite slows way down to nothing by 11, 11:30. Still fish to catch then, just have to go to "secret spot" and soak some bait........good luck sniffers
