    Re: Going Local (Pictures)

They stopped stocking Spring years ago. Ralphine is City owned Spring County, the county won't pay the stocking fee any longer. However they both have Florida Large Mouth. Huge bass in both. I'll be at Spring in the morning.

Lake Ralphine and Spring Lake are literally just around the corner and up the road a couple of miles. 10 minutes tops. Ralphine is stocked, I'm not sure about Spring. I'm headed to Lake Sonoma to chase chrome in the morning, then drop my clients off and go chase pickles. Maybe I'll fish Spring Lake on Sunday. Eagle opens Memorial Day, I'll be there on June 22nd for a week. I'm itchin.

You couldn't have asked for a better day to have some exploration going on. Thanks for taking me along Richard, I think the Davis Creek area is a little stretch to get to, but maybe it will get some of the snow run off........Jetspray

To correct CC a little I did know something was going on in that area, just not what the outcome was to be. There are alot of water holding areas for flooding in my neighborhood, about 6 that I know of, and during the construction of this pond I was under the impression of that being done.......Jetspray

Water is a little low right now there. The trailer park behind the Casino next to Costco is lacking RV's. Those are the one's that occupy that area the most. I think the crowds have dwindled a little because of that........Jetspray

    Going Local (Pictures)

Nevada fishing licenses run from March 1 through the end of February. Starting in March, depending on weather, NDOW starts stocking lots of the smaller local dunks to entice Nevadans into renewing for another year. Having grown up in the greater L. A. area I love local dunks. These are where I learned to fish. Picked up Dave at 0930 and headed off to look at a few.

First stop was Mitch Pond. Mitch is located in the Gardnerville Ranchos within walking distance of Dave's housed and he didn't even know that the little lale was there. I had known of this lake for a year but had never fished here. My first cast I caught a fisty Nevada bow. I think I'm gonna like this little lake. For a dunk it is fairly big and deep. There is a little paved area with benches and built in rod holders. Talked to a local and he said that NDOW is stocking Rainbows, Browns, Tigers, Bass, Bluegill and Catfish. There is a constant suppily of water so it shouldn't dry out. Dave and I fished there for an hour and got 7 fish between us. They like green Gulp.

Next Stop was Davis Creek Pond. This water is north of Carson City and is in Washoe County in Davis Creek County Park off of Old 395. This lake is in a mountain setting and is a sesional water. I was afraid that it was still dry and when we arrived there it was. Had to look.

On to Wilson Common. This water is also off of Old 395 north of Carson City. Just south of Davis Creek it is off of William Brent Road in the Washoe Valley. This little pond is stocked by NDOW with the down side of being in one of the windiest places on the face of the earth. There were two others fishing there. We didn't fish. It was a bit windy.

Last stop was Baily Pond. This very small fishing pond is located in South Carson City just off of 395 just off of Fuji Park and behind Bodine's Casino. Small enough to cast across it can become quite crowded after NDOW stocking. Quite popular with the Golden Agers living in the near by moble home parks. We didn't fish here.

    Welcome

Thanks for going with me Dave. Hope you enjoyed a few new places
