Re: ICE HOUSE : SKUNK !!

I am surprised no one has weighed in on this yet...

I thoought trout and salmon fishing in the sierra district was limited to 1 hour before sunrise to one hour after sunrise. But here is what I see in the regs....

    ARTICLE 2. FISHING HOURS
    3.00. Fishing Hours.
    (a) Day Defined: One hour before sunrise to
one hour after sunset. Remaining hours are
    night.
    (b) All fish may be taken day or night, except
    as follows:
( ) WATERS WITH RESTRICTED FISHING
    HOURS FOR ALL SPECIES:
    (A) American River between Business 80
and Nimbus Dam (Sacramento Co.): Night
    fishing prohibited.
    (B) Heenan Lake, (Alpine Co.): See Section
    7.50(b)(76)(A).
    (C) Mono County: Night fishing is prohibited
in all Mono County waters except Topaz
Lake, where fishing is prohibited from
two hours after sunset to one hour before
    sunrise.
    (D) Tahoe Lake (Placer and El Dorado
Cos.): Fishing is prohibited from two hours
after sunset to one hour before sunrise.
    (2) WATERS WHERE NIGHT AND DAY
FISHING IS ALLOWED, BUT NO TROUT
OR SALMON MAY BE TAKEN AT NIGHT:
    (A) North Coast District.
    (B) North Central District, except Berryessa
Lake (Napa Co.) and Mendocino Lake
    (Mendocino Co.).
    (C) South Central District, except Coyote
    Lake (Santa Clara Co.).
    (D) Valley District, north of Interstate 80,
except Camp Far West Lake (Nevada,
Placer, and Yuba counties), Collins Lake
(Yuba Co. ), Oroville Lake (Butte Co.), and
    Wildwood Lake (Nevada Co.).
    (E) Shasta, Siskiyou, Lassen and Tehama
    counties.

I see nothing in the species regs to counter this. I swaer in the past I had seen where a few counties in the sierra district allowed night fishing for trout but over all the sierra district was limited to 1 hr before sunrise to 1 hour after sunset.

Am I missing something or has this changed?

    ICE HOUSE : SKUNK !!

Went to Ice House this weekend , last chance before the weather up there turns to winter ! Fished a bit , the fish were taking bugs off the surface and fairly close to shore , 5-50' out . Tried most every lure in my arsenal from the smallest super dupers , rooster tails to mepps and kastmasters . Two bumps on a small brown rooster tail otherwise no action .

Rumors of a 8 lb. brown on Saturday , caught on a large dark rooster tail and talked to a retired couple who usually catch lots of fish there , two fish for them over the weekend . They did tell me of a group of people who were slaughtering the trout after dark using lights and worms , heard that story in part from one of the participants also , no details though !

Is night fishing legal in these mountian lakes ? Not sure , know years ago it was not !
