Cool to see you do so well Hunkerfish. The lake is still packed with cutbows. I looked for you but as you can see we did not hook up. Power mouse was the killer from the pontoon. I heard that many were successful using the woolybuggers and woolyworms. I may head back out to Rancho Mistako this weekend to catch and release more trout for $5. Hopefully next time we will meet Hunkerfish. Take care

Way to go hells, now for my report i was on fire, lots of fish alomst a mini amador, but yet i could not get anything over the magical 3# mark i could not figure it out :-/ oh well me and my football compadre caught and released around 35 or so we lost count he also caught a nice black crappie using a jig,
Anyway heres the best part of the day me and my bud chris were fishing the north boat launch and talked to a dad and a couple of kids who moved over there to catch some recent planters with no LUCK, now my friend Chris is a super nice kid, Big Old o-lineman looks like santa, and he had the spirt of ole st nick, he hooked into a fish and let the little boy, about 6??, land a nice 2.5 lbs cutbow, this kids face was well lets just say he had a lot of teeth ;D, kid landed him parading him around [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] and i think entered into the derby and at the time was in 4th place?? or 5th anyway if you guys everymeet me with chris hes not olny a stud fisherman but a super nice dude.

Oh and we caught all of our fish on white jigs olive/black woolybuggers, gold kastmaster and gold rapalas
Plenty of fish to be caught too, now the derbys over i would head over to catch some beauties.

Hellsangler, Nice job on picking R.S. to fish. Saw your post yesterday on your trip. Two good days in a roll. Jackpot. Will keep our fingers crossed you hold off the others for that top Derby prize.

You are more than due buddy, I sure hope you do get first place, you have certainly put your time in. Jen and I have each gotten second place and Darilyn got third, so a first would be great. I think they post the winners in the fish sniffer too, so I will be looking for you, good luck.

    Rancho Seco 3/19

I got on the lake around 7 am. I headed for yesterdays hotspot to find the few I told how to catch them had told more people than I had hoped. With clear weather I was sure the color of the bait would change but it did not change. I caught one trout right off and the boats moved in. Two sat right in the hole and another kept trolling and doubling back to hog what was left of the hole. Out of the ten boats battling for position only four of us continued to hook and land fish. The fishing started off slow and picked up around 10:30 am. I was off the lake by 12:45 pm with 5 nice trout and 12 released trout. I had to quit because I noticed my pontoon felt like it was leaning to one side. It was ... a welded joint on the stainless steel had begun to separate. It was a beautiful day with the fishing still producing nice cutbows. I was surprized when I found out I was still the leader in the derby. If I get a check in two weeks for $100.00 I will have won the derby. There are still lots of cutbows to be caught at Rancho Mistako. Take care and tight lines.
