Re: Shore Fishing Folsom Lake in Spring - Which Areas are Recommended?

The bridge you are refering to is likely the old Salmon Falls bridge on the south fork of the American River. Salmon Falls Road now crosses just up stream from where the old bridge, now usually underwater, crossed the river. There is a parking area on the south side of the river just before the bridge. The best place to fish at Folsom anytime of the year is somewhere else. Unless you live very close by it is usually not worth the trip.

To bad the dam road is closed. We used to do real good on the beach area with live minnows. Also the Browns ravine and Folsom point area was good with minnows from shore.

Not to kill your plans...but if you are coming all the way from the Bay area I would not waste your time fishing Folsom from shore. Seems like a trek for a strong possible skunk. This lake takes many, many trips to produce and your chances are much better from a boat. You may want to consider fishing the rivers...North Fork should be good higher up the better.

Shore Fishing Folsom Lake in Spring - Which Areas are Recommended?

I did a bit of research and came up with these areas for shore fishing:

    Granite Bay
    Beals Point
    Five Percent
    Brown’s Ravine

Also there were references to the American River near a bridge but that's kind of Greek to me.

Are those areas easy to reach and fish from?

    Thanks!

    tg
