Heading to Dunsmuir for the first time

Ill be headin up within the next few weeks, too antsy and seein alot of good action.. How similiar is this place to the Carson fishing-wise ?

Check with these guys...very friendly and helpful. Stop in when you're there and they'll set you up. If nymphing, use enough wt to get your bugs DOWN. Check your pms.

For more than 30 years I have been driving up and down the Sacramento River Canyon looking at the river thinking "there's got to be some big fish down there." I got a last minute chance for some extra days off and I will be headed up there either this evening or early tomorrow morning. Siskiyoufisherman any advice on what is working up there and the general areas will be much appreciated. I am not much good with a fly rod but I do have a good 5 weight that will be making the trip along with my spinning rods. Hopefully starting tomorrow evening I will be able to update with photos.
