The water may be too low in september along some parts of the river (unless theres rain), but at the big holes which are easy to access it should be fine. I will send you a PM of those holes and where they are.

Sounds like a good time with your dad and uncle. Your fish looks like a football and your dads is nice too. How can you beat fishing with the family and a free steak sandwich. Thanks for sharing.

    Hitting the Ol' Walker (pics)

Got a call from my dad's cousin Dicky (the name fits him well!) and he wanted to escape Santa Cruz for the weekend and hit the west walker river. He met us at our house at around 0230 Saturday morning and we were on our way.
Stopped at the routine Denny's in Oakdale at aroud 4:00, we made it there in only 1 1/2 hours.

Dicky, looking his finest at 0400 at Denny's.

We got over the pass at around 0715 and had our lines in the water at the day use area at around 0730. Fishing was good here, the water was really low, but fishable. We worked our way on the river back to the Andruss motel, and my dad pulled out this 3.4lber just south of the town of walker!

I brought my friend Justin along for the trip, he has never fished a river before and damn he was hooked! he loved the joy of the fight against the current. He only caught two, no where close to my 21, but thats ok. We were all C&R except for My dad's big one, justin's bleeder, and a mystery fish.

Dicky suprisingly didn't catch the biggest fish; he has caught the biggest every time for 6 years in a row!

No, this year, I was the victory in the contest! That meant Dicky paid for a free dinner for me at the Topaz Lodge! Steak Sandwiches are the bomb!

here is my dad's fish, justins fish, and my whopper, same hole where my dad caught his, and mine was 3.9#'s.

I think its like 4th or 5th in the How Big is Big Derby going on right now. Farewell all, sorry for the essay!
