good job guys and thnx for the picture. Looks very peaceful. how long was the hike?

I would like to start doing the hike in and fish the remote lakes, just have to get into shape first, haha. Golfing and bowling doesn't get you into shape, it add weight with all the beer drinking, haha.

keep it up. Always excited to read your reports as its detail!!

rnf: good job on the photography, you're getting some good shots!

I wouldn't want to disappoint you RNP. I used my limited moderating powers and edited in photos in Marv's original post. Not a great pic of the event but you can tell he is wet and cold with a dead smart phone in his hand. I am sooooo bummed that I didn't have the camera out when he went in the drink. Haha

Rnf I want to know how much Marv paid you to not post the pics of him soaking wet? Since I read his post earlier I couldnt wait for your pics to be posted and now I'm disappointed. Can only hope you didnt break his bank too bad. LOL

Re: Upper Kinney, Lower Kinney, and E. Carson

We had a great time fishing some new waters. And the best part since I made Marv decide where to go the skunk at the lakes is all HIS fault. LOL

It was a great little walk to go back to Kinney Lakes and really need to do more of the "off the beaten path" fishing. Doesn't have to be ten miles away but...

Here is Marv on our hike admiring the sun coming up in the mountains.

    Just amazing!

We worked hard all day for fish and covered a lot of ground. This has been a busy few days for me. Thur/Fri fished above Shasta on the Sac and Hat Creek. Monday we did the Kinney Lakes, the Carson, and the N fork Stani. Just a mere 940 miles or so. Don't you all feel sorry for me? hehe

I will just close with some scenery photos since Marv told the story. It was nice meeting Mark and having the three of us stomp some granite. I am the oldest of the group so always wonder how much I can take in a day. When it comes to fishing I don't seem to have slowed down. Or at least not as much as in other areas. haha

    Cheers,

That's a heck of a wake up call! Wet or not sounds like a good trip, minus the water logged cell phone.

Upper Kinney, Lower Kinney, and E. Carson

After being stuck at the house for a couple weeks, RideNfish and I decide it's time to get some high moutain fishing in. Being the kind host he gives me the honor if picking our playground fir the day. He also let me know that MarkDaShark would be joining us, now the pressure is on.

After some research and ah few phone calls I decided in hiking up to Upper Kinney Lake and then to Lower Kinney Lake. We met Mark @ 5ish in Angels Camp and after loading up Marks gear we were off and running.

We arrived @ Kinney reservoir near 6am and set of for Kinney. After a 1 mile huff puff hike we set eyes on Upper Kinney.

What a beautiful little spot and I had visions of a massive Lahotan cutthroat. Mark packed in his float tube, but his pump wasn't pumping. So we start throwing and as im talking to Ride Im walking on a fallen tree thats was half way in the water and BAM im crack my family jewels on the log and cartwheel into the frigid alpine water, not sure but I may have pee'd on my self.

That was all thw action we got for the next couple hours. Strike ome so were off to Lower Kimney.

We get to Lower kinney and fish are jumping and there are millions of some type of chub. Mark and I bag a couple chubs and the skunk is off, lol.

I got one bite on powerbait, bur nothing to set on. Now we have a choice to make, hit the E. Carson or try the N. fork of the Stanislaus. We settled on the Carson.

We were slightly concerned with it being the end of the holiday weekend knowing it was hit hard. Get to the Carson, and fish on for Ride or Mark. Then fish on for me. Mark is fishing a power worm on his fly rod and getting plenty of hits but no sticks. Then Mark get hooked up and then it's fish after fish, most were Lahotan cutthroats in the 12" range. They were dead set on not being photographed. Mark had big fish honors with a 2-3lb. Bow a beautiful one too.

Even though we were banging them out. We decided to hit up Boards crossing in Dorrington and had several fish landed there as well. The n. fork stan was flowing perfectly.

No Pics cause when I fell in the water I killed my $300 smart phone, i'll get somw up or mabye Ride will post some pics. oh well still had a blast. Nice to meet you Mark i'd fish with you any day.

A bad fisherman will leave trash and take fish.
