    Re: Carson River Resort

That big mudslide that hit hwy4 back in August really changed certain holes in the river.......really bad siltation has built up in some of them. I used to love fishing the big, deep hole a couple hundred yards downstream of the resort, on my last trip it was off color and murky, and had really silted in badly. Hopefully a big wet winter will clear out much of this sand and silt

    Cool Re: Carson River Resort

Plants below the resort (south) are better in my opinion. Many access areas along the road in that direction and camping in those areas lightens up this time of year. Have fun at the group camp, but you can always take a drive to ICR and give that a try as well.......Jetspray

fishing should be very good when you get here. We will be stocking a few more times this year. Todd who runs the resort will take great care of your needs. Also hit him up on where to fish when youget here. Tell him Buck said to make sure you catch some of the lunkers. If you are up for some catch and release try hitting up Hennan for some great cutthroat action. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up.

I was just up in that area last weekend and did pretty good. Caught 15 fish most in the 12-14" range and one big one close to 5lbs. The river is pretty low right now so the fish a piled in the deeper holes.

    Re: Carson River Resort

I just got home last night from 6 days trout fishing......yesterday, ironically the last day was the best fishing of the trip....in about 5 hours, I caught 10 rainbows up to about 12" on the East Carson right about 5-6 miles upstream from Carson River resort, in a deep pool about 100 yards downstream of the bridge that crosses the river. 4 fish on bead head copper John nymphs under a strike indicator, 4 fish on CD9 Rapala Rainbow trout, and 2 on an 1/8 oz gold/black panther Martin. I saw several fish in the 3-5 lb range in that pool. Talk to Todd at the resort, he will have all the current intel on the river. I really didn't want to fish bait, but I saw guys pull out quick and easy limits with bait. I'm pretty inept with the fly rod,I fished it for 2-3 hours of my time, and I only fished a single pool, but I'm guessing that if I'd wanted to fish a bunch of spots, and strictly toss lures and bait, I could have had a 25-50 fish day! I've had 50 fish days on this river! Best of luck, Bob

I think the group site is #8, which is just across the dirt access road from the river. It's very close. Enjoy!
