Hot Bites...

1. SACRAMENTO RIVER TROUT…Rainbows and steelhead to 5.5 lbs are being landed. Back trolled plugs, nymphs and Pautzke salmon eggs are all hooking fish.

2. SAN PABLO BAY STURGEON…Keeper sturgeon are being caught daily. Mud shrimp are the best bait, but roe and eel are hooking sturgeon too.

3. LAKE CAMANCHE TROUT…Bankies and boaters are scoring limits of rainbows. Trollers rely on grubs, while PowerBait and worms score for bank anglers.

4. FRENCH MEADOWS BROWNS…Bank anglers are landing brown trout to 5 lbs. Minnow plugs and inflated worms are yielding the most consistent results.

Good Bets...

5. HALF MOON BAY CRABS… The crabbing is slowing down, but limits are still possible for hard working anglers. Focus on water from 35 to 80 feet deep.

6. LAKE BERRYESSA CATS…Whiskerfish to 9 lbs have been showing up for bank anglers. Worms and liver are the best baits, but sardines are working too.

7. TRUCKEE RIVER BROWNS…Brown trout are biting in the Truckee. Fly anglers are working streamers, while spin anglers use eggs, spinners and minnow plugs.

8. ROGUE STEELHEAD… Anglers working the upper reaches of the river are scoring fish to 8 lbs. Fishing plugs and roe from anchored boats is the method of choice.

Sleeper Bites...

9. CHABOT TROUT … Trout anglers are nailing limits while fishing from the bank. Chartreuse Power Bait is the best offering for rainbows to 5 lbs.

10. EAST DELTA BASS… The bass bite has been good for finesse anglers. Small worms and Senkos worked slowly are producing largemouths to 3.5 lbs.

11. SANTA CRUZ PERCH… Beach anglers are battling good numbers of surfperch. Shrimp baits, mussels and grubs are all drawing strikes.

12. PYRAMID CUTTHROATS … Trollers are battling cutthroat trout that range up to 20 lbs. The most productive lures remain either Flatfish or Apexs in green color patterns.

13. LAKE PARDEE OPENER… Lake Pardee will open for fishing on February 14, 2014. The trout action should be red hot for both bank anglers and trollers.

14. SAN FRANCISCO BAY PERCH…March is a great month for targeting surfperch in the bay. Soak prawns, grass shrimp or pile worms for the best results.

15. CLEAR LAKE PRESPAWN…March is the time for targeting trophy prespawn bass. Toss large rip baits and swimbaits for fish ranging up to 10 lbs.

16. SIERRA TROUT OPENER…Stream fishing is slated to open on April 26. Salmon eggs, worms and spinners typically work well on the opening weekend.
