Beautiful Lake Shasta catch

Torrential Rain, Driving Winds Challenge Anglers During Kokanee Power Shasta Derby

The small island about 40 yards off our starboard side, marked the tip of a submerged bluff, jutting to the surface out of 70 feet of water. The entire shoreline was characterized by irregular structure that quickly descended into deep water, making it a classic location for encountering spring trout. Since the skies were overcast and a breeze was ruffling the surface, the trout felt comfortable hunting along the edge of the structure near the surface despite the fact it was nearly noon. We'd yet to establish a pattern, so we were pulling a little bit of everything.
