Like many artists, Teri Renee will readily admit that her talent is a gift. What she chooses to do with this gift is a gift in itself.

For many years Teri was unaware of the talent and mission harbored inside of her. In 1975, while working for Heath-Epcom Sign Company, her boss Jim Smith noticed her doodles on a piece of paper. Impressed with her sketches of ducks, and convinced that she was wasting her talents in a clerical job, he introduced her into the advertising, graphic are and marketing fields.

She now knew she had talent, but it took William Shields, international sportsman, to show her how she could channel this gift for more than just monetary gain. He shared his dedication to the conservation organization, Ducks Unlimited, and encouraged Teri to participate in international fund raising projects. She was rewarded for her support when she was chosen to represent Washington State in the Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year competition in 1985. He also suggested that she might expand her scope to include the portraits of fish and other wildlife. In 1992, the William R. Shields Sportfishing Series began touring international sport exhibitions.

The combination of the pen and ink technique of pointillism with water color overlays or washes results in a depth and vitality that draws you into the piece.

hand tied flies, Limited Edition, copyright 1992, teri renee, all rights reserved She taps into the essential energy of her subject, and viewing her art becomes an interactive experience. She surrounds these images with hand painted frames that complement and enhance them, and actual hand tied flies are mounted on the fish series incorporating another medium.

Her affinity for her subjects naturally overlaps her passion for good causes, in particular those protecting defenseless children and wildlife. Seattle Children's Orthopedic Hospital, Yakima Children's Home Society, March of Dimes, Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, as well as many others, have directly benefited.

Housed in the old stone bathhouse on the banks of the Feather River, the impact of her wildlife was reflected in the faces of the viewers.

Her energy is boundless and her enthusiasm infectious. Jim Gasney, nationally syndicated writer, chose her to illustrate a story he wrote for Safari International Magazine. Her work hangs in the offices of Boeing, Unisys, Mircosoft, as well has in many private collections. She also is a Licensed Associate Member of the American Society of Interior Designers and authored and published the Home Décor Guide. Presently she is attending computer graphics school and living in Butte County.

Teri Renee, Artist A collection of Teri's work is presently on exhibit in Sacramento and I would encourage you to drop in for a look. You can reach Teri at artfish@jps.net.
