Contra Loma Reservoir

Maps and Info
Contra Loma Reservoir

Location and Size:  Contra Loma Regional Park is located in the hills of Contra Costa County on the southwestern corner of the city of Antioch. The 776 acre park includes the 80-acre reservoir. The Contra Costa Water District maintains the lake as a back up water supply. The East Bay Regional Park District (EBRPD) manages the surrounding lands, owned by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

Fishing: is open year round for trout, largemouth bass, redear sunfish, bluegill, striped bass and channel catfish.

Other activities:  The lake’s swim lagoon, staffed with lifeguards during the summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day, has a sandy beach with changing rooms and a refreshment stand. Nearby are shady picnic areas on an expansive green lawn, accessible to the disabled. Multiple first-come, first-served tables cannot be saved by a single person. One person is required per table to save non-reservable picnic tables.

Boating: A public boat ramp is available on the lake’s south end near the Frederickson Lane entrance. Visitors to Contra Loma may launch their own boats; boat rentals aren’t available. Private boaters may use electric motors, but not gasoline engines. Maximum allowable boat length is 20 feet. Persons using float tubes must wear waders or other wetsuit material to eliminate body contact with the reservoir waters.

Park fees: There is a fee for parking dogs, swimming, boat launching, windsurfing and fishing permits. Call (925) 757-0404 for more information.

Facilities Information: park information (925) 757-0404, EBRPD Headquarters (510) 635-0135; group reservations (510) 636-1684, http://www.ebparks.org/parks/contra_loma
