Eagle Lake

Location and Directions: Eagle Lake is located 15 miles to the north of Susanville. The lake sets at an elevation of 5,100 feet in the transition zone between pine forest and high desert. To reach the lake follow Highway 36 for 3 mile west of Susanville. Turn right on Road A1 and proceed for 15.5 miles. Keep your eyes open for forest service signs and follow them to the Gallatin Marina and boat ramp.

Season: The lake is open from fishing from the Saturday preceding Memorial Day to the 31st of December. Snow, ice and cold temperatures are common during both the early and late season.

Marina and Boat Launching: Boat launching is available at both Spaulding in the lake’s central basin and at Gallatin in the lakes southern basin. Because of low water conditions, only the ramp in the south end is launchable now. Gallatin has a large ramp, protected marina and ample parking. Call, (530) 825-3454.

Camping: There are several campgrounds in the area. For information call the Lassen National Forrest, (916) 257-2151.
