    Fishing Notes:
  • Striped Bass Fishing is best for numbers of fish from August through October. Bait fish with mudsuckers, bullheads, anchovies and shrimp. Troll with worm tail jigs from Mare Island Straits to downtown Napa. For larger stripers, fish bullheads during November and December.
  • Sturgeon Are found year round in the river, but January through March is the hottest time. Fish grass, mud and ghost shrimp on big outgoing tides.
  • Steelhead and King Salmon A small run of hatchery steelhead moves up the river in the winter, while stray chinook salmon from other systems are occasionally caught in the Fall.
