Fishing Notes:
Rainbow Trout fishing is good throughout the season on the North Fork. Fish crickets, nightcrawlers, Panther Martins and Roostertails in the pools and riffles. For the larger wild fish, fish away from the heavily stocked areas such as Board's Crossing, Sourgrass Campground and the Big Trees State Park Bridge. Fly fishing is also excellent with both nymphs and dry flies, particularly during the summer and fall.
Brown Trout are found throughout the river. Fish Rapalas, Rebels and other minnow imitation lures early and late. As with the wild rainbows, fish away from the popular access points.
Beaver Creek also produces good numbers of wild and planted rainbows during the spring and early summer months. Scale down the size of your presentation from what you would use on the Stanislaus.
White Pines Lake near Arnold offers solid trout fishing in the winter, spring and early summer. Largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill and catfish are also abundant here.
